Mount Hiei Enryakuji

Hieizan Enryakuji Temple is the head temple of the Tendai sect, which is also called the sacred place of Japanese Buddhism. This temple, which was opened by the great Buddhist priest Saicho, has a history of more than 1,200 years and is registered as a world cultural heritage site. The Temple has a reputation for its beautiful views overlooking Lake Biwa and the city of Kyoto.
